The NIMML Director visited the Children’s National Medical Center


On Nov 19th 2012, Dr. Bassaganya-Riera visited the Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) in DC to discuss potential research collaborations and possible partnerships related to immunology, infectious and chronic diseases with numerous CNMC faculty, including Steve Zeichner, Roberta DeBiasi, Anthony Sandler, Laurie Conklin, and Yan Lu. Dr. Bassaganya-Riera led the immunology team and presented a summary of collaborative opportunities, including the development of several large-scale programs in infectious and immune-mediated diseases. The visit was part of broader collaborative discussions involving senior leadership at Virginia Tech (President Steger, Provost McNamee and VP for Research Walters) and CNMC (President Newman, Executive VP Batshaw, and Scientific Director Tuchman).
